August 24, 2010 (Midland, Ontario) - Midland area teens will soon have a place to develop and express their artistic side at Quest Art School + Gallery with the help of RBC Royal Bank.  Jeff Boyd, RBC Regional President, Steve Nixon, RBC Regional Vice President and Andy Ott, RBC Midland Branch Manager, presented a $7,500 cheque from the RBC Foundation to Quest's president, Ruth Hurdle today solidifying the partnership and enabling the Quest board to move forward with concrete plans.

"Quest recognized the need and envisioned a place where teens would be able to develop artistically with opportunities for mentorship," stated Hurdle. "And with the generosity of RBC, our vision will be a reality.  We couldn't be happier!"

Also on hand to accept RBC's generosity was Quest Board member Sheila Minnie, Midland Councillor Judy Contin, as well as Ninette Gyorody who is slated to begin her new post as Quest's Director and Curator at the end of this month.

While details are still to be ironed out, Quest hopes to have the program up and running by late 2010 or early 2011.  Youth will be able to drop into Quest during the evening and will be encouraged to experiment with different art media under the guidance of experienced local artists.

Midland Cultural Centre Update

©

Plans are moving along quickly in the new cultural centre located at the old Roxy Theatre Site in Midland. The theatre should be down by mid-June and building will begin! There are now three stories in the Cultural Centre featuring two visual art galleries, three classrooms, Huronia Players Theatre,  an events centre, a café,  a gift shop and a casual place to meet with your friends.  We are so fortunate and excited.  Keep watching the site as Quest's new home develops.

We need you to get involved. There are so many ways to volunteer.  Perhaps you'd like to work in the gift shop and ticket area. Why not start your training today and be the first to welcome new visitors in 2011!
